Apply to Board

The International Dyslexia Association, Louisiana Branch (IDA-LA) supports individuals with dyslexia and related, language-based learning disorders, as well as their families and educators. One of 46 IDA branches worldwide, we have been serving the areas of Louisiana and Mississippi for 26 years. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, IDA-LA is the region’s definitive resource of information related to dyslexia, language-based learning disorders and literacy acquisition. We strive to increase awareness and understanding of these disabilities, encourage early and accurate diagnosis, advocate for the use of scientific, research-based instruction and to bridge the social, educational or cultural gaps to improve language acquisition for the success of all learners. IDA-LA is seeking individuals with an interest in learning disabilities and literacy to serve on our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will have the opportunity to set organizational policy and ensure its continuity; carry out short and long-term planning efforts; and help in the area of fund development to build our organization’s financial stability. Our board meets 4-6 times/year. As a working board, committee involvement is also required. Currently, we are seeking to recruit a diverse array of professionals to our board. We desire individuals with experience in (but not limited to) mental health, criminal justice, advertising and marketing, social media, and recruitment skill sets.
